ON THE BANKS OF THE MISSISSIPPI

Written for Dr. Melanie Brooks and the Winona State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, this piece for symphonic band was inspired by the sun hitting the water of the Mississippi river. I chose the Mississippi river for the setting because Winona is on the river. In part because of Dr. Brooks' interest in Scandinavian music, I was deeply influenced by Carl Nielsen when writing this piece.
