BLAZE

This colorfully virtuosic piece for clarinet, trumpet, and piano provides both lightening speed and expressive slow melodies in a quick four minute piece. Written for Robert Spring, the clarinet part has long passages of sextuplet sixteenth notes that requires circular breathing, and makes use of multiphonics in the middle section of the piece. The trumpet part uses a significant amount of triple tonguing which compliments the clarinet part, and the piano part bridges the two parts together providing a water-color backdrop.
